Verse 122Space

Emptying the Middle Space

Bhairava

This verse points to the quiet space between two things, like the gap between the hands or between supports. If you rest attention on that empty interval, the mind naturally calms down. It is like noticing the silence between sounds instead of chasing the sounds themselves.

िस्त्वन्तरे िेद्यमाने सिधिस्तुषु शून्यता । तामेि मनसा ध्यात्वा विवदतोऽवप प्रशाम्यवत ॥ १२२ ॥

hastvantare vedyamāne sidhistuṣu śūnyatā | tāmeva manasā dhyātvā vividato'pi praśāmyati || 122 ||

Translation

When emptiness is apprehended in the interval between the hands, or in the midst of the supports, by meditating on that alone with the mind, even one who is bewildered becomes pacified.

Focus on the empty interval or gap between things to settle the mind into stillness.
