Verse 129Dissolution

Following the Mind to Its End

Bhairava

This verse tells you not to follow every thought. The moment the mind moves, let it go and do not hold onto it. Over time, the inner surface becomes still, like water with no waves.

यि यि मनो यावत तत्तत् तेनैि तत्क्षणम् । पवरत्यज्यानिवस्थत्या वनस्तरङ्गस्ततो भवेत् ॥ १२९ ॥

yatra yatra mano yāti tat tat tenaiva tatkṣaṇam | parityajyānavasthityā nistaraṅgas tato bhavet || 129 ||

Translation

Wherever the mind goes, right there and then one should abandon it; by not allowing it to remain, one becomes wave-less.

Interrupt every mental movement immediately so the mind settles into a calm, wave-free state.
