Withdrawing the Senses to Rest in Self
Bhairava
This verse reminds you that most of your ups and downs enter through the senses: sights, sounds, touches, and so on. If you temporarily stop chasing them, you can notice a quieter place inside that is already steady. It is like closing a noisy window so you can hear the room itself.
इन्द्रियद्वारकं सर्वं सुखदुःखावदसम्गमम् । इतीन्द्रियाणि सम्त्यज्य स्वस्थः स्वात्मनि वर्तते ॥ १३६ ॥
indriya-dvārakaṃ sarvaṃ sukha-duḥkhādi-saṃgamam | ity indriyāṇi saṃtyajya svasthaḥ svātmani vartate || 136 ||
Translation
Everything comes through the gateways of the senses and is joined with pleasure and pain. Therefore, abandoning the senses, one abides established in oneself.
To step back from sensory involvement so awareness can rest in its own native stability.
