Verse 96Emotion
Calming the Emerging Desire
Bhairava
When a strong want or impulse suddenly appears, don’t fight it or follow it. Just notice it clearly and let it quiet down by itself. The idea is that every desire fades back into the deeper place it came from.
विज्ञानभैरव तन्त्रम् झवगतीच्छां समुत्पन्नामिलोक्य शमं नयेत् । यत एव समुद्भूता ततस्तिैि लीयते ॥ ९६ ॥
vijñānabhairava tant्रम् jhaṭigatīcchāṃ samutpannām ilokya śamaṃ nayet | yata eva samudbhūtā tatas tadvai līyate || 96 ||
Translation
Seeing a desire that has suddenly arisen, one should bring it to rest; for from whatever it has arisen, in that very source it dissolves.
Notice a desire as it arises and let it settle back into the source from which it emerged.
