Verse 80Awareness
Steady Gaze into Formless Support
Bhairava
Pick one visible object and look at it without letting your attention bounce around. At the same time, keep the mind from running off into stories. When both gaze and mind become still, a deeper silence can open.
स्थूलरूपस्य भािस्य स्तब्धां दृवष्टं वनपात्य च । अवचरेण वनराधारं मन् कृत्वा वशिं व्रजेत् ॥ ८० ॥
sthūlarūpasya bhāvasya stabdhāṃ dṛṣṭiṃ nipātayitvā ca | acareṇa nirādhāraṃ manas kṛtvā śivaṃ vrajet || 80 ||
Translation
Having fixed the unmoving gaze on a gross form, and making the mind unsupported by movement, one goes to Śiva.
Hold the gaze steady on an external form until the mind becomes supportless and enters pure Śiva-awareness.
