Verse 76Visualization
Inner Light in Open Space
Bhairava
Look at a bright, open field of light, such as sunlight or a lamp reflected in space, until it feels soft and vast rather than sharp. Then keep your attention there. The verse says that this can reveal your own inner nature as light and openness.
तेजसा सूयधदीपादेराकाशे शिलीकृते । दृवष्टवनधिेश्या तिैि स्वात्मरूपं प्रकाशते ॥ ७६ ॥
tejasā sūryadīpādere ākāśe śaśīlikṛte | dṛṣṭi-niveśyā tathaiva svātma-rūpaṃ prakāśate || 76 ||
Translation
When, by the brilliance of the sun, lamp, or similar light, the sky is made moonlike, if the gaze is fixed there, one’s own Self-form shines forth.
Use a steady gaze on a bright spacious field of light to discover the radiance of the Self.
