Verse 133Nonduality

Holding the World as Magical Appearance

Bhairava

The verse compares experience to a delicate net of illusion: real enough to appear, but not something to cling to as solid. When you understand that appearances are like this, you can relax instead of fighting or grasping them. The result is a calmer and steadier mind.

अतत्त्ववमन्द्रजालाभवमदं सिधमिवस्थतम् । वकं तत्त्ववमन्द्रजालस्य इवत दार्ढ्ाधच्छमं व्रजेत् ॥ १३३ ॥

atattva-mandra-jālābhaṃ idaṃ siddham iva sthitam | kvaṃ tattva-mandra-jālasya iti dārḍhyāc chamaṃ vrajet || 133 ||

Translation

This appears like a subtle net of illusion, yet it stands as if already accomplished. Understanding the subtle net of reality in this way, one should go to peace through firmness.

To see the world as a subtle, magical appearance and thereby settle into peace without clinging to appearances as ultimate.
