Text of the Deluded
Bhairava
This verse says the text is designed to meet people where they are. It uses striking images and methods to draw in a distracted mind, like giving a child something appealing so it will come closer. The deeper goal is to lead the mind beyond such supports.
विज्ञानभैरव तन्त्रम् अप्रिुद्धमतीनाम् वह एता िालविभीवषका् । मातृमोदकित्सिं प्रिृत्त्यथधमुदाहृतम् ॥ १३ ॥
vijñānabhairava tant्रम | aprīddhamatīnāṃ vāhetaḥ śālavibhīṣaṇāḥ | mātṛmodakitsilaṃ pravṛttyartham udāhṛtam || 13 ||
Translation
This Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra is proclaimed for the sake of activity, as a terrifying display for minds that are not yet awakened, like a plaything to entice children.
Explain that the teaching uses provisional forms and dramatic language to engage immature minds and guide them toward practice.
